Verner, of Pickens District, S.C., deeding 173 acres bought at public sale, said property previously belong to the estate of Benjamin Leathers and having been sold by order of the Court of Ordinary. The persons involved in this sale may be William Steele (b.ca.1796) listed in the 1860 U.S. Census as a farmer in Pickens District, S.C., and David D. Verner (1804-1896).
